The Potentialist Workshop opened its doors September 2015 as Pan’s 19th collective art space with the intention to unlock the artists’ infinite potential - whether it be acting, music, sculpting, creating, or a combination of all the aforementioned. Formerly a co-founder of Reno Art Works on Dickerson Road, Pan is a government, museum, and private gallery selected painter and created some of the longest murals in Reno’s surrounding area.
A Montana native, Pan set up shop in Reno back in 2005. At only six years old he sold his first painting and his first solo exhibition was at a coffee shop in Montana at the age of fourteen. In addition to Executive Director of the Potentialist Workshop, Pan is currently a Fine Arts Teacher at Squaw Valley International Academy. Formerly, he was a drama instructor at Rainshadow Charter High School while under his coaching his students won the Poetry Out Loud Nevada State Championship three times and competed at the national level. In 2012, Pan received the Kristine Nagy-Johnson award for teaching and serving at-risk youth.
In 2019, Pan was nominated and selected as Reno’s Poet Laureate and has been a Spoken Views Poet since its conception. He is a NEA, Black Rock Arts Foundation, and Government-selected Sculptor as well as a signed author with LaRue Press who is awaiting the release of his 20+ books. He is lead vocalist and lyricist of the local band Weapons of Mass Creation who was invited to perform at Indie Fest of SXSW in 2019. Pan has produced and directed numerous original plays as well as an award-winning independent film “Ali,” the eponym for the Potentialist Workshop’s theater Ali’s Alley.
