Madison Foley in "The People You Meet at the End" Eternal Internal River by Mahedi Anjuman Joothi and Shakhawat Hossain Razib) | Happy New Year from the Potentialist Workshop! We can hardly believe another year has passed and what a year it’s been… Last January, we produced the last Bob Bennett play “Sugar Daddy” shortly after our playwright’s death; we celebrated his life and performed his final words in our theater. Pan started his new job as art professor at Squaw Valley Academy. In February, we released our film Ali at the Nevada Museum of Art! In May, we produced a 1200sq-ft interactive experience entitled “The People You Meet at the End” at the Generator Inc. |
We celebrated the 4th of July folding cranes with veterans from the Drakulich Foundation for Freedom of Expression. We hosted figure drawing classes with Jen Charboneau and learned new instruments with Reno Rock Camp.
Our residents showed their work in galleries such as Sierra Arts and the Holland Project, and all over our walls here with new murals popping up almost daily. You can hear the music from our downstairs recording studios all hours of the day.

We produced a handful of interactive exhibits and hosted over a dozen phenomenal and diverse artists, including Alex Huerta from Las Vegas and Onur Tukel from New York City. The team saw new horizons, new highs and lows. We took art around the state, to Winnemucca Ranch, Las Vegas and Fernley and beyond. We’re hoping to get even further in 2019, to Austin for SXSW, Squaw Valley and back to Brooklyn by 2020. |
We’ve said hellos and goodbyes to so many amazing artists over the course of the year, and now that it’s over… The Potentialists are asking the same thing as everyone else: what’s next? If you feel this is your year to create more… we’re still here, and we’re ready for you! Call to Artists: We’re gearing up to build another Potentialist group show. “It’s not so much about the location or the landscape, it’s about being fully consumed and present within it.” J. Charboneau . Submissions due January 17, 2019. |
In need of a new piano with a fresh coat of paint? We’ll be auctioning off 12 beautifully painted pianos from Potentialist artists such as Asa Kennedy, Kelsey Sweet, Jeff Johnson, Jen Charboneau, Erik Holland, Pan Pantoja, Jack Ryan, and Bryce Chisolm at Carpenter’s music world this January. At the end of this month, we’ll be hosting an 24-hour interactive performance piece with Naomi DiVine in the Potentialist gallery. Join us Jan 25- Jan 26 for a full day of painting, music, and collaboration. Looking forward to creating another great year at the Potentialist Workshop, Pan, Mac, Jack, Naomi and Jaimie |
