Hi Potentialists!
I'm taking a quick break from painting here in the studio to fill you in on what's going on at the Potentialist coming up!

Today we've been getting set up to premier a new film by Fernando Biagioni and Chris Wyatt Scott! The show starts at 6pm tonight. We've also been consistently hosting figure drawing every Wednesday starting at 6pm. The film will premier in the gallery and nude drawing will continue in the back. (There's never a dull moment around here!)

Remember back in the day when this place was a theater? We're very excited to be able to invite you back for live theatrical performances with Stop Kiss! This is their closing weekend- their performances start at 7:30 this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with a final Sunday Matinee at 2pm. The show starts on time and lasts about 2 hours- make sure to get here early to find your seats!

Looking forward to the month of October, the Potentialist Gallery will feature a group exhibit curated by Asa Kennedy exploring the depths of vulnerability. The show is called Fear or Fantasy and the opening reception will be held on October 8th from 6-9pm. The opening reception will coincide with our 2nd Fridays Event from Magnus Sound Systems.

There's always lots going on around here, so please check out our website potentialistworkshop.com as well as our social media accounts to stay informed about art and music brought to you by our many prolific resident artists.

I'm going back to painting until the movie starts tonight at 6! I hope to see you here soon for our upcoming shows (and I'm looking forward to showing you what I've been working on at my gallery show here in December!!!) Keep Creating <3

Sincerely,
Naomi Di Vine

Hi Potentialists!

You're Invited to an exhibition of traveling artists at the Savage Mystic Gallery on Saturday, August 21st, 2021 from 6-9pm. Niyonsenga Pacifique from Kigali, Rwanda performed and shared his art with us in the Potentialist Gallery around 5 years ago, and now he's back in Reno with his brother Trez Kwiz for the month of August. They've brought magnificent art from 9 different artists out of Niyo Arts Centre in Rwanda.

During the pandemic, The Potentialist Team has strived to keep art alive in the Biggest Little City. Our Workshop at 836 East Second Street continues to be a hub for artists to create and share their new works. You can stay in the loop with incredible monthly gallery exhibits, new productions and other events by visiting our website PotentialistWorkshop.com or following us on Facebook and Instagram.
Our current gallery exhibit features paintings by Potentialist Resident Artist Reena Spansail. An opening reception for Reena's show "Aridne's Path: The Mystery of the Labyrinth" will take place on Friday August 20, and a closing reception will take place on Saturday August 28.

While the Potentialist Workshop continues going strong, our team spent the summer creating an additional gallery for healing and spiritual arts located in Midtown Reno. The Savage Mystic Gallery (named for the owner Morgan Savage) will also host monthly gallery events. Visit Savagemysticart.com for more information about upcoming events or find us on Facebook and Instagram @savagemysticart. We hope to see you at Niyo Arts Reception on August 21 6-9pm at the new gallery at 538 South Virginia Street!

Keep Creating,

Happy New Year from the Potentialist Workshop! We can hardly believe another year has passed and what a year it’s been…

Last January, we produced the last Bob Bennett play “Sugar Daddy” shortly after our playwright’s death; we celebrated his life and performed his final words in our theater. Pan started his new job as art professor at Squaw Valley Academy.

In February, we released our film Ali at the Nevada Museum of Art!

In May, we produced a 1200sq-ft interactive experience entitled “The People You Meet at the End” at the Generator Inc.
We celebrated the 4th of July folding cranes with veterans from the Drakulich Foundation for Freedom of Expression. We hosted figure drawing classes with Jen Charboneau  and learned new instruments with Reno Rock Camp.
Our residents showed their work in galleries such as Sierra Arts and the Holland Project, and all over our walls here with new murals popping up almost daily. You can hear the music from our downstairs recording studios all hours of the day.
Picture
(above)  Leona Novio painting in the Potentialist Abbotoir. Mural by Leona Novio, Jack Ryan, Naomi DiVine, and Pan Pantoja, (below) Axiom Pantoja

We produced a handful of interactive exhibits and hosted over a dozen phenomenal and diverse artists, including Alex Huerta from Las Vegas and Onur Tukel from New York City.

The team saw new horizons, new highs and lows. We took art around the state, to Winnemucca Ranch, Las Vegas and Fernley and beyond. We’re hoping to get even further in 2019, to Austin for SXSW, Squaw Valley and back to Brooklyn by 2020.

We’ve said hellos and goodbyes to so many amazing artists over the course of the year, and now that it’s over…

The Potentialists are asking the same thing as everyone else: what’s next?

If you feel this is your year to create more… we’re still here, and we’re ready for you!

Call to Artists:  We’re gearing up to build another Potentialist group show. “It’s not so much about the location or the landscape, it’s about being fully consumed and present within it.” J. Charboneau . Submissions due January 17, 2019.
In need of a new piano with a fresh coat of paint? We’ll be auctioning off 12 beautifully painted pianos from Potentialist artists such as Asa Kennedy, Kelsey Sweet, Jeff Johnson, Jen Charboneau, Erik Holland, Pan Pantoja, Jack Ryan, and Bryce Chisolm at Carpenter’s music world this January.

At the end of this month, we’ll be hosting an 24-hour interactive performance piece with Naomi DiVine in the Potentialist gallery. Join us Jan 25- Jan 26 for a full day of painting, music, and collaboration.

Looking forward to creating another great year at the Potentialist Workshop,

Pan, Mac, Jack, Naomi and Jaimie

“You + Mɘ = Wɘ”
Gallery Reception: Saturday, June 9th 6 - 9pm

This June, come enjoy Live Music as we explore the new works by Las Vegas artist and pillar of the Las Vegas Arts community, Alexander P. Huerta in his upcoming solo art exhibition "You + Mɘ = Wɘ" presented by The Potentialist Workshop.
This exhibition will be composed of two bodies of work:
•The Vintage Urban Collection which are mixed media paintings that are black & white in theme and explore humanity and togetherness. It is where the artist examines neighborhoods and the people that populate them.
•The Radiant Collection which are mixed media paintings that are vibrant in color and mainly large bodies of work. These are a collection of the artist's thoughts in the moment.

The purpose of this exhibition is to take the viewer on a visual tour of Alexander's journey towards his truth while providing a platform for the viewer to speak their own and through such, remind locals and visitors alike the importance of unity, peace and self discovery.
