the pantheonVera Paints solo debut showcased an amazing amount of skill and passion. It is easy to see the hard work put into this art. The vibrant colors make the figures in each art piece look majestic in their realistic styles. Use of dedicated line work highlights subtle details that contrast soft and blending elements. "One of the questions I'm always asked is who are the people in the paintings? They are all people that I know in life." Vera makes a point to say that the paintings are referenced with photography, saying that photos are sometimes taken for granted because we live in an age where we can scroll throw hundreds of images so quickly. Painting something in this way makes the impact of the overall image so much stronger. "Each painting represents a different God" This art show was used to showcase the special people we know in our everyday life. To remind ourselves that not only are the people in our life majestic but also that.. "Anyone can be the person in the painting." We look forward to what you will be working on next, thank you Vera. The Potentialist Workshop The Savage Mystic Gallery -Alfredo Becerra East West CrossroadsMisstencil's Work is vibrant, full of culture, humorous and meticulous. Bringing some recent topics in the public's mind, the art brings a humor that is both kind and heart felt. Like the one family member that is always making people laugh. Being an immigrant to America Misstencil brings a lot of culture and another point of view with the goal of bringing people together and making them think about some of the issues we run in to sometimes. The number one fix for a problem is always to share a good meal! Misstencil's art shows this aspect by using food in many different ways. Coming from a large background of street art, location is always important to Misstencil. Showcasing Burning man and other geographic locations to draw from. Each place has a special history, from the birthplace of Bruce Lee to some of the oldest trees on the planet at Bristal Cone. "Not everyone can afford the time or money to go to a gallery art show, that's why I like to do street art. Someone could be going down the street on the bus and see my art on the way to work, and then it could be gone the next day." Thanks for visiting us and showcasing your amazing work. The Savage Mystic Gallery The Potentalist Workshop -Alfredo Becerra Cirque Ta DaAnne Mirch is one of the kindest people iv ever met, and her art, some of the most interesting that iv seen. There is an interesting combination of skill and whimsy that makes the mind wonder and imagen. Threw my talk with Anne we talked about a lot of things, the topic of loneliness came up, as Anne suggested that the greatest thing an artist can have is a community. A place where you can share your hard work, get feedback, and inspire others with your work. I think this is good advice, considering it came from a teacher that knows what they are talking about. Anne has gone through and experienced a lot amazing and hard things as we all will. It reminds me that we should always remember that someone as already gone through our hardships and faut throw them as well. The art on display this month was a story to teach and bring people together. I'm so thankful to have had the opportunity with Anne and I will continue to support our strange little community. The Potentialist Work Shop The Savage Mystic Gallery - Alfredo Becerra Hello everyone! This month at the Savage Mystic Gallery we are showcasing Jack Ryan. His show will be running throw the moth of august and its called... Polymer Mermex'es'es' ..."it Prompts You to"... Jack is one of the most interesting people to talk to, often times he will introduce himself as "a seller of Life-Assurance" or that he is in a program for "recovering narcissists". Jacks point of view is always an interesting one, his various travels around the country have contributed to this aspect. "I'm trying to reflect some of the beauty iv been shared" , the painting that he calls MerMex are in a way a reflection of the artis, a mirror frozen in time, he as even described them as music frozen in time. " One thing I have seen is that any one can look at these artworks and pick out their favorite one, this is due to the mass amount of colors and shapes that Jack makes with this technique. He is also able to produce a large amount of art and cover large spaces quickly. "The Smoothness of the technique and the application of it has actually turned in to a kind of therapy." If you had ever met Jack Ryan you might be caught off guard, he is definitely a character. "I couldn't make it in theater, so I had to become theater. " Most of the time when I speak with Jack he is cracking a joke that is interestingly disguised behind riddles and self made slang. I always enjoy speaking with him and unraveling the conversation to end up finding a humorous, kind hearted, somewhat political and fun rambling. So don't be so quick to judge something that you might not understand, "I know this is not for everyone", " I had make choices and give myself permission to be myself." "It feels good to give forth , no mater who you are, and I had to find a safe way to do that." I'm exited of the reception and hope to see you all there! Thank you. Hi Potentialists!
You're Invited to an exhibition of traveling artists at the Savage Mystic Gallery on Saturday, August 21st, 2021 from 6-9pm. Niyonsenga Pacifique from Kigali, Rwanda performed and shared his art with us in the Potentialist Gallery around 5 years ago, and now he's back in Reno with his brother Trez Kwiz for the month of August. They've brought magnificent art from 9 different artists out of Niyo Arts Centre in Rwanda. During the pandemic, The Potentialist Team has strived to keep art alive in the Biggest Little City. Our Workshop at 836 East Second Street continues to be a hub for artists to create and share their new works. You can stay in the loop with incredible monthly gallery exhibits, new productions and other events by visiting our website PotentialistWorkshop.com or following us on Facebook and Instagram. Our current gallery exhibit features paintings by Potentialist Resident Artist Reena Spansail. An opening reception for Reena's show "Aridne's Path: The Mystery of the Labyrinth" will take place on Friday August 20, and a closing reception will take place on Saturday August 28. While the Potentialist Workshop continues going strong, our team spent the summer creating an additional gallery for healing and spiritual arts located in Midtown Reno. The Savage Mystic Gallery (named for the owner Morgan Savage) will also host monthly gallery events. Visit Savagemysticart.com for more information about upcoming events or find us on Facebook and Instagram @savagemysticart. We celebrated the 4th of July folding cranes with veterans from the Drakulich Foundation for Freedom of Expression. We hosted figure drawing classes with Jen Charboneau and learned new instruments with Reno Rock Camp. Our residents showed their work in galleries such as Sierra Arts and the Holland Project, and all over our walls here with new murals popping up almost daily. You can hear the music from our downstairs recording studios all hours of the day. (above) Leona Novio painting in the Potentialist Abbotoir.
